Blackberry Filling (For Cobbler or Crisp)

My brother's favorite dessert is Blackberry Cobbler. What I really love about this recipe is that it's fast and easy! You can also replace blackberries for any other berries. Check out our topping recipes to decide what you'd like to put on top of these yummy berries. Enjoy!

Ingredients

  • 8 cups blackberries fresh OR frozen
  • 1/2 cup organic sugar OR any other sweetener
  • 4 Tbsp arrowroot OR cornstarch
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 1 Tbsp lemon juice OR use a small amount of orange zest for a nice zing

Instructions

  1. MIX gently all ingredients together into a bowl.

  2. IF your berries are tart, you will need more sweetener.

  3. POUR into bottom of 3 quart casserole dish.

  4. TOP with Cobbler Topping, Crumb Topping, OR Fruit Crisp Crumble Topping and follow directions on that recipe for baking.

  5. SERVE warm and enjoy!
