  • 2 cups quinoa
  • 4 cups water
  • 1 tsp salt opt.



  1. RINSE quinoa thoroughly in hot water to remove bitter taste.

    DRAIN with strainer.

  2. BRING water, salt, and quinoa to a boil.
  3. COVER and turn down to medium-low OR low, depending on how low your stove cooks.

  4. COOK for 1 hour.
  6. SHUT off burner and let SIT for another 30 minutes to keep it from sticking to the bottom of the pot.

  7. DO NOT LIFT THE LID until the time is finished!
  8. SERVE immediately OR chill.


  1. RINSE quinoa thoroughly and drain with a strainer.
  2. PLACE quinoa, salt, and water in rice cooker and stir.

  3. CLOSE and turn on white rice setting.
  4. WHEN finished, remove from rice cooker and transfer to serving dish or storing dish.
  5. SERVE immediately or chill.

Recipe Notes

If you are not going to eat it right away, remove it from heat as soon as it’s done cooking and transfer it to a glass dish. Fluff it up nicely and then let it chill. This will help keep it from clumping together into a sticky block and make it easier for using or serving later.
